Welcome to VIRTUAL academic consulting at CASE and the Writing Center!

Some additional tools you might find useful during your appointments or in your coursework:

Virtual Appointment Availability:

  • eTutoring -- selecting this option makes it possible for you to upload files for your consultant to review, either prior to or during your appointment. eTutoring appointments may be conducted in three ways:
    • Phone call -- This is a real-time (synchronous) meeting between you and your consultant conducted over the phone at your scheduled appointment time. Select "eTutoring" and in the "What would you like to work on today" box, indicate that you want to have a real-time phone meeting at the appointment time. 
    • Email -- This is a time-delayed (asynchronous) appointment feature. Select "eTutoring" and in the "What would you like to work on today" box, indicate that you would like the consultant to send you feedback on your document(s) via email. The consultant will access your documents at your appointment time, and will return comments on your documents in a timely manner (within 1-2 hours). Please note: This is not a proofreading service. Your consultant will pose questions, make comments, and encourage revisions in the same manner you can expect from a real-time or face-to-face session. 
    • Other -- Some consultants are flexible about working with you to meet on other platforms, such as Face Time or Skype. Check your consultant's bio when you make an appointment to see if these alternatives are available. 
  • Online -- selecting this option creates a virtual meeting room supported by video, audio, and shared whiteboard where you and your consultant can converse and interact. At your appointment time, click the "join conversation" link in your appointment box on the WCOnline schedule. You can upload documents prior to or during your appointment, or just meet for a conversation to brainstorm and make a writing or studying strategy.

Availability varies by consultant. When you click a white box to make an appointment with a consultant, you will be able to view their platform availability (phone, email, online, other).
